A loan of $975 helped to buy bags of pea seeds and fertilizers.

Margot's story

Margot is 33 and is married to Elmer, with whom she has two children: Kenlar, who is 15, and Ángel, who is 4. They own their own home, which is located in a rural area in Peru.

She is a farmer, planting peas and flowers (gladiolas), which, from her early years in agriculture, always gave good results.

She says, "I plant a bag and a half of peas. When I reap in May, I will get 40 bags." She also produces gladiolas. Her buyers visit her farm to negotiate sales. She says sales are profitable because buyers snap up her products and then take them to other cities. Thus, Margot has income that allows her to educate her young children and affords them some luxuries. For now she will continue on with her crops of peas, taking advantage of the next rains.

This is her 8th loan with Kiva Partner Microfinanzas Prisma. She promises to be punctual with her monthly payments. "The Hummingbirds of Patay" is the name of her community bank, where she is a responsible partner in her activities and payments.

She will invest loan proceeds in the purchase of bags of pea seeds and the remaining money will be used to buy fertilizers.
