A loan of $1,475 helped to buy pea seeds and fertilizer.

Yolanda's story

Yolanda, 50, is married to Antonio and they have three children but only one of them still lives with them. She owns her house located in a rural zone.

Agriculture has been her main economic activity for the last 20 years. It made it possible for her to pay for her children’s higher education costs. They visit her constantly and she feels happy to have her grandchildren’s love; she pampers them very much.

Her main crops are flowers (gladioli), peas and corn that she cares for and fertilizes because she knows that the good sale of harvests depends on this. She usually sells in the city’s wholesale market but depending on their quality she might take them to the capital where she gets better prices. She mentions that planting peas and gladioli is very profitable and the good thing is that they are harvested in 4, 5 or six months. She will now start a pea crop because the rainy season is approaching and that will be very beneficial.

She belongs to the “Picaflores de Patay” (Patay Hummingbirds) communal bank and this is her 7th MFP loan. She hopes for support to continue towards her objectives. Yolanda will use this money to buy four bags of pea seeds (2000 soles) and will use the rest of the money to buy fertilizer.
