A loan of $775 helped to buy fiber cement sheets and to put in flooring.

Marco Antonio's story

Marco is 37 and lives with his wife and his small 5-year-old son for whom he works very hard every day so that he can give him a life of worth and, above all, much love. His home is located in a settlement located in the city of Mala, Peru. The district of Mala is characterized by having a varied climate; agricultural development, in particular the cultivation of apples and bananas; and it also has beautiful beaches that receive many tourists in the summer season. Marco is a hard-working and humble man who, due to his limited financial resources, only finished secondary school but would have really liked to be in the army.

Day to day Marco works in his small business of selling personal and market-place products like soap, shampoo, and razors, among others. He also works at night as a security guard in a condominium in his town where he also takes advantage of the opportunity to offer his products. He believes his job is going well because he is very responsible and, above all, very friendly and honest with his customers.

Marco is very grateful to the Kiva lenders because thanks to the help they have offered him he will be able to make improvements to his home, in particular he will buy fiber cement sheets to put on the roof of his home because it is made of mats and plastic, and he will also be able to put in flooring and in this way be able to improve the quality of life for his family and, above all, continue fighting to make his greatest dream a reality - to build his home out of sturdy material and to give his son a good education.
