A loan of $775 helped to stock her store with groceries (rice, sugar, eggs, milk, oil, cold cuts, and others) and to hire seasonal workers for the yucca harvest.

Orlith's story

Orlith is 60 years old. She is a hard working country woman who is earnest and friendly. Her partner is Eglin, a farmer. They have four children who are all independent already. Now she lives in the company of her partner and their 15 year-old grandson.

Her work is in agriculture, for which she has an eight hectare plot of land that she inherited when she was 20 years old. She dedicates herself primarily to growing yucca, as well as tangerines and oranges. She has two hectares planted with yucca. She harvests periodically to sell her produce wholesale in the nearby markets. Her husband and two workers help her maintain her land. In addition, she has had a bodega [small grocery store] in her home for several months now, where she sells all types of groceries. Her sales bring in good profits.

This is her 16th loan with Microfinanzas Prisma. Amongst her group, she is always characterized as a responsible person. She is happy to have this opportunity to make a good investment, and she is also confident that she will continue to make her repayments on time, as she always has up to this point.

Orlith will use the amount she is requesting (2,000 nuevos soles) to invest primarily in stocking her bodega by purchasing rice, sugar, eggs, milk, oil, cold cuts, and other groceries. She will also hire the necessary hands for this season's yucca harvest.
