A loan of $1,150 helped to buy papaya seeds, yuca stakes, fertilizers, and hire labor.

Omar's story

Omar is a very hard-working and decisive man. His partner is Cristina, who also works in agriculture, and they have a 14-year-old son.

His work is farming, and for this he has a a seven-hectare piece of land that he bought three years ago. He has four hectares of papaya and one of yuca. He works with the help of two laborers, who handle the maintenance and harvest work. He likes his work, as it generates income for supporting and paying for his household expenses,

He says that he chose this work because of the need to have an occupation that will generate the resources necessary to live, as he does not have any schooling. Currently he has plans to continue with the work; to expand the size of the area cultivated, and to plant another type of crop with greater output that will help him increase his income.

This is his fifth loan with the MFP institution, and he feels grateful to have a line of credit for moving forward with his work.

Therefore he promises to make his instalment payments, in order to have a good credit record. In addition, he says that he feels at ease with his communal bank, as he considers the members to be responsible people.

With the amount of 3000 nuevos soles applied for, he will buy papaya seeds, yuca stakes and fertilizers, and hire laborers to help him carry out all the work needed to undertake a new planting.
