A loan of $775 helped to buy alfalfa seeds and natural fertilizers to start planting her diverse products.

Adela's story

Adela, age 52, lives with her daughter, Jojaira, in her father’s house. Her husband died eight years ago. Since that time she took the reins of her household by herself. She started farming, which is what her husband did.

She has her own land, which she inherited from her father. She grows potatoes, artichokes, corn, and alfalfa. These crops give her good income because she sells them in the capital of the country.

She is now preparing to plant, and she wants to put a little more into planting artichokes. She also hopes to have a lot of cows in her stable again. “A year ago I had six cows. Because of difficulties, they got sick and died. Now I will raise them again,” she says with great optimism.

She belongs to the Virgen de la Candelaria communal bank. This is her fourth loan with MFP. In all of this time she worked very hard to continue on with her objectives. She pledges to be punctual with her payments. In her group they taught her to be responsible.

Adela will use this money to buy alfalfa seeds and natural fertilizers to start planting her diverse products.
