Vaituutuu is 47 years old and married with six children. She would like to start a small business, making elei (handmade printed fabrics). In order to do this, Vaituutuu needs a loan to buy more materials: paints, brushes, etc. She hopes to use her profits to expand the business. She has been a member of SPBD since 2010.
South Pacific Business Development (SPBD) improves conditions for families living in poverty by providing accessible credit, training, and guidance to help them start, grow and maintain micro-businesses, build assets, finance home improvements, and afford to educate their children. 99% of SPBD’s loans go to women, who can borrow in groups to guarantee one another rather than put up collateral.
