A loan of $400 helped to buy wood, lacquer, varnish, thinner, etc.

Jose Fernando's story

Jose is forty-eight but he has the spirit and desire for success of a youth of twenty. He is the father of two children, a twenty-one- and a seven-year-old, whom he loves very much. He and he wife work very hard to offer them a decent life, and above all, so they can do better than he has. When he has free time, he really likes to listen to music, and most of all he likes to share one of his favorite dishes, super-delicious chicken soup, with his family. Because of his limited financial resources, Jose was able to go to school only through eleventh grade, but he would like to have studied to be a teacher.

Jose works very enthusiastically in his carpentry business. He works about twelve hours, and can serve up to eight clients, every day. He believes the business is doing well because he is very responsible and, most of all, he is very genial to his customers.

Jose really appreciates the Kiva loans because, thanks to their big help, he'll be able to buy wood, lacquer, varnish, thinner, and other items so he'll have the materials he needs to do his job, serve his clients better, and keep fighting to realize his biggest dreams: provide his children with a good education and to get a circular saw for work.
