A loan of $200 helped to hire two people so that they can complete the cleaning of her three parcels of coffee.

Olga's story

Olga is 50 years old. She is married to Fortunato, the father of her six children, but now she only lives with four of them, whose ages range from 19 to 9 years old. This family lives in a simple home, but it is their own that they built from the efforts and earnings of their work. She works as a farmer. She was born surrounded by the harvests that her parents produced and through this she learned this skill. Now that she is a mother and a married woman she has 10 parcels of agricultural land, but she only produces on four. "I plant three lots of coffee to sell, and bananas and yuca for the consumption of my family" she says. The sale of coffee is sufficient to maintain her home, because with each harvest she obtains 20 sacks, which she sells in the city to the buyers who frequent the wholesale market in the months of May to July (harvest months). "This year the sales were not that good, but with the bananas, the majority of the farmers get ourselves ahead" she indicates. This is her 9th loan with MFP. Because of this she gives her word to pay the monthly payments on time. She affirms that she feels satisfied with her community bank, "Flower of San Juan," because of the teamwork they perform. With the money from this loan she will hire two people so that they can complete the cleaning of her three parcels of coffee.
