Tes N. is a 45 year old housewife who lives in Kampong Cham province. Her husband cares for their family by working as a police officer in Phnom Penh. Phnom Penh police officers are better paid than in other parts of the country, and he earns US$5 per day. They have five children together, two of whom are unemployed while the rest are students. Since her husband must commute every day from his home province of Kampong Cham to Phnom Penh, three hours away, his family wants to invest in a motorbike to help him save time commuting to work. Right now he is forced to hitchhike each day to work.
