Gabina's story

Gabina, 42, lives in the city of Camaná with her two children. Unfortunately, for a number of reasons, she separated from her partner some years ago and has been the head of her household ever since and has put all of her efforts towards getting them ahead. Gabina is very friendly, hardworking and enthusiastic. In her free time she likes to go walk by the river near her house. She wasn't able to study for a career since she began working at a very young age to help her parents cover their expenses. Sometimes she cooks a delicious Lomo Saltado [beef stir fry] to share with her children.

With a lot of dedication and enthusiasm, Gabina works daily selling snacks door-to-door. She has a small tricycle that she uses for her sales. Every morning she starts working early and works for about 10 hours a day. She believes it's going well due to the variety of sweets and friendly treatment that she gives her customers.

Gabina is very grateful to the Kiva lenders, since with their support she will be able to buy merchandise (snack food) like caramels, cookies, lollipops, appetizers, among other things. This way her business will be better stocked, which she hopes will increase her sales and her income. That will help her to save little by little in order to buy a new tricycle. She will continue working hard so that she and her kids can get ahead.
