Nuredin is a very hard worker from Kosovo and currently lives in the Roma community. He is married and is the father of five children; the oldest is 17 years old and the youngest is 7 years old. For more than five years, he has made a living through collecting paper packaging, iron and plastics and then selling them for recycling.

This is his main source of income to provide for his family. He transports these materials by his tractor, which is very old and damaged. He is requesting a loan in order to buy a new tractor. He is hoping to increase his sales with the help of this loan because he will have more products he can collect and then sell. This loan will help him to generate more income and make a better life for his family, and he wants to provide a better education for his children.

More information about this loan

This loan will support the economic aspirations of minority people in Kosovo. Roma people and ethnic Serbians have historically faced a tremendous amount of hardship in Kosovo, and are still socioeconomically and politically vulnerable. During the 1998-1999 war, the fighting displaced 250,000 people. Among those displaced were an estimated 80-90% of the region’s Roma population. Today, Roma and ethnic Serbians living in Kosovo still face discrimination and are excluded from many aspects of society, including fair political representation and high rates of unemployment. By supporting this loan you are helping provide opportunity to marginalized populations.
