A loan of $4,375 helped a member to buy house building materials like bags of cement, sand, iron corrugated zinc, etc. for the construction of a dwelling house for her family.

Aminata's Group's story

Above is a photo of some primary-school teachers in Waterloo, about 22 miles from Freetown, Sierra Leone’s capital city. Like their counterparts in other SMT operational areas, they have come to SMT/Kiva lenders to request a loan. With the help of this loan, they are empowered to meet certain financial challenges that their mere salaries cannot let them solve. And at the end of each month, they repay Kiva lenders using their monthly salaries. Their bursar is directly responsible for doing the repayments on their behalf.

Aminata is the leader of this group. The 48-year-old is married with four children attending primary and secondary schools. Aminata has been in the teaching profession for many years now. She has requested this loan in order to buy house building materials like bags of cement, sand, iron corrugated zinc, etc., for the construction of a dwelling house for her family.
