Ventanas, Ecuador / Agriculture

A loan of $800 helped to buy farm supplies.

Marcia Araceli's story

Marcia, 37, is single and does not have children. She lives with her sister in Ventanas Canton, Los Ríos Province.

She’s a member of the “Venceremos Unidos” (We Will Triumph Together) communal bank located in Recinto Anchoveta on the way to Recinto La Templanza that belongs to Pueblo Viejo Canton. This communal bank is involved with agricultural activities related to short cycle corn and rice crops.

Marcia has been growing corn and rice for several years now. She buys her products in Ventanas and sells them in a market there and in Pueblo Viejo Canton. She’s asking for the loan to buy manure, urea and liquid fertilizer for the crops. The loan has helped her to increase her income for her family’s consumption and to invest. Her dream is to increase and improve her corn crops still more. She always likes having extra businesses.
