A loan of $500 helped a member to buy rice seeds for her farm.

Hean's Group's story

Hean is a 52-year-old married mother of ten children, three (one daughter and two sons) of whom are dependent on her and still in school. Hean is originally from a rural village of the Sangke district of Battambang province, Cambodia. For almost thirty years, she and her husband have farmed rice and raised pigs to support the family. The current business earns their family about 10,000 KHR per day to meet the family’s needs. An inadequate water supply is still the main challenge for her business.

Hean has taken a first loan with Kiva’s partner, VisionFund. Now she and her group members are requesting a loan of 1,000,000 KHR each. She will use her portion to buy rice seeds for her farm. She hopes to increase her income from her current business to improve her living standards and keep her children in school.
