A loan of $600 helped a member to buy fertilizers and rice seeds for her farmland.

Mom's Group's story

A citizen from a village of the Moung Russey district of Battambang province, Cambodia, Mom is a 43-year-old married mother of five children, four (one daughter and three sons) of whom are dependent on her and still in school. The family’s main source of income is rice farming on five hectares of farmland, which she has been involved in for 24 years. She currently earns about KHR20,000 per day. Drought is the main challenge she faces.

Mom has already received and repaid one VisionFund loan which helped her relieve her family's burden, while the other member of the group has received and repaid two loans. Now requesting a new group loan, Mom, who is the leader, will use her portion to buy fertilizers and rice seeds for her farmland and to pay for gasoline.

She hopes this loan will enable her to make her farming business more productive and profitable so she can better support her family and keep her children in school.
