A loan helped a member to buy materials for building a proper latrine for her family.

Sophal's Group's story

Sophal lives in a rural village of Kandal province’s Kandal Stoeng district in Cambodia. She has four children; two of her daughters are dependent on her and are still in school. She earns a living through farming rice, while her husband works as a paid construction worker in the local area. Their current business earns them about 15,000 KHR per day to support their family.

Sophal’s group consists of four members who are all applying for their first loan with VisionFund. She is leading her group and she will use her 160,000 KHR portion of the loan to buy materials for building a proper latrine, including a latrine bowl and tile draining. She hopes this loan will enable her to have a healthy latrine for her family's use so as to create a hygienic standard of living.
