A loan of $1,450 helped a member to buy fertilizers and rice seeds for her farmland and to pay for labor costs.

Sreymov's Group's story

Originally from the Moung Russey district of Battambang province, Cambodia, Sreymov is 24 years old and has one dependent son who is under school age. To make a living, she and her husband have been farming rice on one hectare of farmland and earning additional income through growing beans and sesame, and by sometimes working as a paid construction worker in a local area. They have been in this business for several years. Together, they are able to earn about 20,000 KHR per day and manage to save about 14,000 each day after daily expenses. Low crop yield resulting from the drought is the main challenge for Sreymov's business.

Sreymov’s group consists of five members who live in the same village. She and three other members have been with VisionFund for one cycle while the fifth member is in the first cycle with VisionFund.

Sreymov's past loan helped her support her family in living better. Now the leader of her group, Sreymov will use her portion to buy fertilizers and rice seeds for her farmland and to pay for labor costs. She hopes this loan will help her current business grow and will increase her income so as to improve her family’s lifestyle.
