A loan of $975 helped to buy a welding machine for her metal shop and fruit for her juice business.

Aurelia's story

Aurelia, age 43, is a charismatic and determined woman who desires to make progress. Her partner Gerardo is a farmer and they have two children, ages 21 and 4. They live in their own home which they bought thanks to her partner’s savings that he accumulated over the years.

Aurelia’s work involves selling juices. She has a stand at the main market in her town. Aurelia works every day and begins every morning by preparing all types of breakfast foods, such as breads and different meats, along with various fresh fruit juices. She has been in business for six years and works with the help of her grown daughter. Aurelia also has another business that she manages on occasion in the afternoons. She opened a metal shop six months ago and her partner has the main responsibility of running it. Aurelia is in charge of managing the shop and keeping it stocked with parts and accessories for sale. She enjoys working because it allows her to remain in constant contact with the public. Aurelia likes to know her customers’ preferences and what products are in demand so that she can keep improving. Both of her businesses give her the peace of mind that she needs to handle the basic family expenses and to support her children. She now wants to focus on keeping her metal shop in operation because she feels her juice business has everything necessary to keep running.

This is her fourth loan with MFP. Aurelia is excited and appreciative about having the financial backing to continue with her plans. She does not want to fall behind on her payments, so she promises to be punctual and responsible. With this loan of 2,500 PEN, Aurelia will buy a welding machine so that she can improve her metal shop and provide quality service. A small portion of the loan will be used to buy fruit, which requires an investment of 300 PEN per week.
