Mujeres Exitosas Group's story

Greetings!

Mercedes is one of the members of the Mujeres Exitosas (Successful Women) group. She is 73 years of age and has ten children, but with her tremendous energy continues to work.

Mercedes has had a store for more than 30 years, where she sells groceries, drinks and vegetables. Apart from her business, she also volunteers in a communal canteen every morning. These canteens are programs which are managed by volunteers, and are funded by the Peruvian government, offering meals at very low costs for people with scarce financial resources.

Mercedes plans to use her loan to prepare her store for the national holidays in Peru and to buy more merchandise, mainly beers and soft drinks. She is a determined woman and, with her hard work, has managed to build a home, one of her biggest goals. Her dream is to continue developing her business, thereby ensuring her income.

Mercedes is happy to know that other people are willing to collaborate in helping her get ahead, and thanks all Kiva lenders. She appears second from the right, and is the woman who is speaking in the video.
