A loan of $625 helped to buy a large volume of drinks and refreshments.

Guillermina's story

Guillermina is 66 years old and she lives in one of the more traditional neighborhoods of Cartagena de Indias, also known as the heroic city where the folklore and Caribbean environment make the locals notorious. For the past 20 years she has been a salesperson, an activity that today she continues and one that has helped her family, composed of her husband and 8 children, to get ahead.

She is a commercial distributor and sells refreshments and soft drinks such as beer, Pony Malta (a non-alcoholic soft drink), and other soft drinks. She sells her beverages every day during the week, but with most of her sales occurring between Fridays and Sundays. Her customers are neighbors from the area that are owners of shops and food stalls. They pay in cash and place their orders in advance.

Demand for her beverages has increased, especially in the second half of the year because there are lots of festivals and government holidays. Because of this, her capital is insufficient to buy supplies. This is the reason that she is seeking a loan from Kiva, with which she will buy beverages and refreshments in bulk so that she has a large stock of available products, and when her clients require more stock, she can fulfill their order immediately.

Her future goal is to add more types of drinks, such as Whisky so that she can capture the attention of peripheral clients and increase the percentage of profitability in her business.
