A loan of $800 helped to purchase materials such as clay, minerals, and glazes.

Checuan's story

Checuan is a Mexican artisan who works in ceramics and stoneware, and with this microcredit, he hopes to purchase materials such as clay, minerals, and glazes.

Checuan has been selling through NOVICA since 2010. This is his story:

"I'm from the state of Guanajuato, and I recall being attracted to ceramics from a very young age. By the time I was 16, I started going to my godfather's workshop. I would just go there to visit and admire his work, but I had no intention of earning a livelihood from it. Eventually, my first assignment was at the potter's wheel, and during those first three years I became enamored with the work as I learned more and more with each passing day. Thinking about my future when I was 19, I decided that one day I would like to set up my own workshop. I now feel I have established myself in the world of ceramics and see it as my duty to teach others who hope to one day have their own ceramic workshop like me. Being associated with Novica means a lot to us. It makes us feel proud to know that people from every corner of the world will appreciate our work. I am thankful to the Lord, as well as to those who graced me with their teachings and confidence."

"I appreciate the opportunity for growth through this microcredit. You are feeding our creativity so that we can continue to bring our ideas to life in ceramics. You are also making it possible for us to buy natural materials and take responsibility for our impact on the environment. Thank you for your support."
