A loan of $1,075 helped to build sheds over her pigpens.

Maricela Paulina's story

Mariela is 26 years old. She is a modest woman who lives with her husband Marcos and their two-year-old son in Santo Domingo. Santo Domingo is the fourth most populated city in Ecuador. It is located in the coastal region of the country and stands as a point of connection between the largest cities in Ecuador, Quito and Guayaquil. Its climate is warm and it is home to great cultural, financial, administrative, and commercial institutions. Approximately two years ago, she started a business raising pigs for sale in order to help her husband financially, since there are times when he doesn't have any income because he is self-employed. He works as a longshoreman. Mariela is a visionary woman and she plans to use the loan she is requesting to invest in building sheds over her pigpens. This will allow her to keep the animals she sells cleaner and better protected, so that her profit may increase and her business expand. She enjoys her work, because it allows her time to raise and care for her young child.
