A loan of $150 helped a member to construct a decent latrine.

Sophy's Group's story

A citizen from a rural village of the Sa Ang district of Kandal province, Sophy is 41-years-old. She lives with her husband and four children, three of whom have their own employment, whereas the remaining one is still in school. The main source of family’s income is from rice farming on a half hectare of farmland; her husband works for others for a fee for extra income. Having been in this business for 18 years, they can earn about KHR 80,000 per day to support the family. Sophy is in her first loan with Kiva’s partner, VisionFund. Now, she and her group member are requesting a loan with VisionFund of KHR 300,000 each. As the leader, she is going to use her portion to construct a decent latrine. She hopes this loan will help her family to have a healthy latrine so as to improve their hygienic standard of living.
