A loan of $525 helped a member to buy fertilizer for her farmland.

Yat's Group's story

Yat, 52, is married and lives with her husband and eight children in a village of the Prey Chhor district of Kampong Cham province, Cambodia. One daughter is dependent on her and still in school. She and her husband have been in rice farming for almost thirty years as the main source of income. To better support their household, they also plant cassava and corn, and raise cows for an additional income. From the current business, they are able to earn about KHR 20,000 per day and save about KHR 6,000 each day after daily expenses. Yat’s group consists of four members living in the same village and all are first-time borrowers. Now leading her group to apply for a loan with VisionFund, Yat, who is the leader, will use her portion to buy fertilizer for her farmland and use a portion of it to pay for labor costs. She hopes to increase her income from her current business so as to improve her standard of living and keep her children in school.
