A loan of $1,000 helped a member to buy bamboo for making more fish traps and to buy pigs.

Khorn's Group's story

Living under a thatched house located in the Pursat province's Bakan district, Khorn is one of the breadwinners in the family. She is a 51-year-old mother of five children. Her two sons have their own employment whilst another three are students and still under her responsibility.

For the children's sake, she and her husband overcame the family's hardships by selling their handmade fish traps. They have been with this business for 15 years and are able to earn almost 15,000 Cambodian riels (KHR) per day.

Khorn is new to VisionFund (a Kiva partner), the same as her group members. Her group has four members; all are female. She leads this group to seek a new loan, and each member is taking a loan of 1,000,000 KHR. As the group leader, she will use her loan portion to buy bamboo for making more fish traps and a portion of it to buy pigs for raising as extra income. She hopes to make more income in order to sustain a good standard of living for her family.
