A loan of $3,225 helped a member to buy a plot of land to build his own house.

Unity Group's story

Eliasi, who is in his early 30s, is single with one child, who still goes to school.

He has been running two businesses, selling chips and selling groceries for five years now. He works from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. daily, and he is able to make a good monthly profit.

This will be his fourth loan from Tujijenge Tanzania. He used the previous loans to buy a motorcycle for his business, to buy a DVD, and to increase his business stock. He has paid back all his loans successfully.

He wants a loan to use to buy a plot of land which he expect to build his own house. His dream is to one day be able to build his own house and to expand his business.

He will share this loan with his loan group "Unity," which has 17 members, who hold one another accountable for paying back the loan.
