A loan of $3,575 helped a member to buy liquor for her store.

Bonanza Group's story

The A.C. “Bonanza” group is made up of nine members and started its first cycle in Pro Mujer as part of the Villa Exaltación chapter. It is run by a board of directors and Sandra is the secretary. There are various businesses that the members have such as:natural healing, sewing and clothing sales, making jackets, sales of blouses, cosmetology, hand and machine knitted typical items of wool, a liquor store, and pants sales.

The loan that the they will take out will be for their small businesses where Sandra is a member. She tells us that it was a year ago when a friend who is a member invited her to join. Currently she has a liquor store. She says that some years ago she worked in a liquor store and since then has continued in this area. Later she decided to open her own store and to be independent.

She will use the loan to increase her capital (purchasing liquors) and will buy from one of distributors and then sell it in her store. This type of work allows her to generate income to support her family as much as possible. She is married and has a son.

When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer she tells us that she likes the institution because they believe in women.

Maria Elena is not found in the photograph because she had a doctor’s appointment.
