A loan of $825 helped to buy more soda, beer, and sugar to sell.

Anna's story

Anna is 52 years old, and she lives in the town of Seeta in the Mukono region of Uganda. She is married with seven children, four of them currently in school.

For the past 10 years, Anna has been working hard to manage her retail shop, which sells soda, beer, rice, sugar, and other household staples.

To help expand her business, Anna has requested a loan of 2,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more soda, beer, and sugar to sell. It will help Anna to generate greater profits and improve her standard of living.

Anna hopes that in the future, she will be able to be a successful entrepreneur. She is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Anna, who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
