A loan of $1,600 helped to buy corn seeds, urea, fertilizers, liquid pesticide, and Ranger (pesticide).

Carmen Alejandrina's story

Carmen Alejandrina, age 39, is in a common-law marriage, and she has four children. She lives with her husband and their children in the Ventanas canton in the Los Ríos province.

This communal bank is called San Francisco de Sibimbe, and it is located in the Sibimbe precinct in the Ventanas canton. This communal bank has 20 members who devote themselves to growing short cycle corn and rice.

Carmen Alejandrina grows corn and rice. She also raises chickens and pigs. She makes her purchases and sales in Ventanas every month.

She is requesting the loan to buy corn seeds, urea, fertilizers, liquid pesticide, and Ranger (pesticide). With the support of the loan she will be able to increase production, and, therefore, increase her income. She faces challenges like pest infestations that attack the crops.

Her dream is to increase her corn crops. She likes to spend her free time with her family.
