Kayunga, Uganda / Spare Parts

A loan of $825 helped to buy more brake shoes, side mirrors, tires, and other auto parts.

Patrick's story

Patrick is 35 years old and lives in the town of Kayunga in the Mukono region of Uganda. He is married and has four children who are all currently in school. For the past seven years, Patrick has been working hard to manage his small business, which sells motor spare parts.

To help expand his business, Patrick has requested a loan of 2,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more brake shoes, side mirrors, tires, and other auto parts, and will help Patrick to generate greater profits and then invest more in his business. Patrick hopes that in the future he will be able to sell more products.

Patrick is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Patrick who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
