A loan of $1,000 helped to buy plant-based products such as weight-control shakes, sugar reducers, and medications for blood pressure.

Maria Leonor's story

Señora Maria Leonor is 54 years old. She is married and has 6 children. She sells plant-based medicinal products. She has worked in this business for 2 years. This type of business has allowed her to obtain her own income. She sells her products as a walking vendor. Maria has applied for a Kiva loan to invest in the purchase of products such as weight-control shakes, sugar reducers, and medication made from plants to control blood pressure.

She estimates that the products that she buys will increase her sales, generating more earnings to expand into other areas. Her future plans are to open a chain of dietary clubs in Managua where her products can be made known, and to improve her standard of living as well as that of her customers, by offering them quality options for improving their nutritional level, promoting the healthy consumption of food.
