A loan of $50 helped to buy more sweet potatoes and bananas.

Bitijuma's story

Bitijuma lives in Kampala, Uganda. She is married and has four children, three of whom go to school. She does not take care of additional family members. For the past 4 years, Bitijuma has worked seven days a week selling foodstuffs such as sweet potatoes and bananas at the market. She also earns additional income by selling piped water.

Bitijuma has requested a loan of 100,000 Uganda shillings (UGX) from MCDT – SACCO to buy more sweet potatoes and onions. Her major business challenges are transportation and seasonality. Bitijuma's goals and hopes are to educate her children to university level and to own a fully stocked restuarant. She lives in a rented house and the family has no access to piped water and electricity. Bitijuma's major expenses include rent and food.
