Augustine S.'s Group's story

Salone Micronfinance Trust (SMT) is very pleased to present to you this group of teachers from one of the primary schools in Kenema, a city in Eastern Sierra Leone. They have come to SMT, a partner of Kiva.org based in Makeni, Northern Sierra Leone, to seek a loan of 16,400,000 SLL in order to meet their immediate financial challenges. At the end of each month, their school’s bursar repays SMT/Kiva on their behalf.

Augustine is the leader of this group of teachers. Born in Bunumbu village, the 39-year-old has been in the teaching profession for ten years now. He is married and has three children, one in primary school and two in secondary school. Augustine has requested this loan in order to pay school fees for his children.
