Wineza, age 35, is an entrepreneur and leader of the business group Atuwezeshe. She is the mother of six children, and her husband is a teacher. She is a merchant and part owner of a small pub. She started out with financial help from Hekima and has since completed five loan cycles with the MFI.

Despite heavy taxes, she has been able to run a successful business. She will use this new loan to stock up on beverages and buy 6 cases of Fanta, 3 cases of Aigle, 4 cases of Primus, 2 cases of Mutzig, etc.

She wants to see her children grow up, and she would also like to expand her business.

Elle commença avec le crédit de l’IMF Hekima. Elle vient de réaliser 5 cycles dans ce programme de micro crédit. Malgré la multiplicité de taxes imposées, elle a réalisé des succès dans cette affaire. Ce nouveau crédit doit lui servir de s’approvisionner avec 6 casiers de Fanta, 3 casiers d’aigles, 4 casiers de Primus, 2 casiers de Mutzig, etc. Elle souhaite voir ses enfants grandir et accroitre son entreprise. HEKIMA is a microfinance institution headquartered in Goma, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), with branch offices in Goma and Bukavu. HEKIMA aims to contribute to the transformation of the economic, social, and spiritual lives of the economically active poor of the DRC. To this end, HEKIMA provides its clients with solidarity group loans to support income-generating activities. Despite ongoing instability and violence in its operating areas, HEKIMA continues to keep its doors open and provide credit and savings services for its over 90% female clientele.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.
