A loan of $1,000 helped to buy pigs.

María Rosa's story

María has been a member of the El Cisne communal bank for a year. She lives in the Valle parish in Cuenca, a place where the geography creates landscapes that stay in your memory. The people are hardworking and work selling things, raising animals and farming. Many work in the city.

María is 53 years old. She is married and has 4 children, aged 25, 22, 13 and 11. Her oldest son is married and lives on his own. Her second oldest, a daughter, works and helps her financially. Her third child, a son, goes to high school and her youngest son is in a local primary school. Her husband works in construction as a bricklayer. They own the house they live in together.

She works in agriculture, using her harvests for household consumption. She also raises cattle and sells the milk she gets in the community.

She will invest the new loan in buying pigs to start raising these animals. Her goal is to raise more animals.
