A loan of $400 helped to buy a bag of pea seeds and three bags of fertilizer.

Bertha's story

Bertha is 38 years old. Her husband is Basilio, with whom she has two children. They live together in the house they built in a totally agricultural district. She has been planting potatoes, peas, and corn for almost 20 years. "The products from my area are good because they grow healthy and strong," comments Bertha. But she doesn't just do this. She also has animals: cows, pigs, and donkeys. The donkeys help her to transport the compost and also the products that she harvests. Now she is planning to grow a field of peas, since her future goal is to improve her production and sell it in other cities.

This is her third loan from MFP, and, as on the past occasions, she mentions that she will be punctual with her payments. Her communal bank is called "The Pioneers of Cumutay," where she feels happy because its members are punctual and responsible.

With the 1000 PEN that she is applying for now, she will buy a bag of pea seeds and three bags of fertilizers.
