A loan of $1,150 helped to buy seeds for peas and potatoes, as well as fertilizer.

Luz's story

Luz is 31 years old. Her husband is Aquiles, with whom she has two children, Lucila, who is 13, and Talía, who is 7. They live in their own house, which they built on their own land.

She has worked in agriculture since she was 19. Now, at the side of Aquiles, they produce potatoes, peas, and corn. She likes the farm work, since in the freedom of their fields, she can also care for their cows, from which she obtains milk. She has done both these types of work for about 15 years, and she mentions that she likes the farm work more because she obtains better earnings. "I have my own land, but in some months I prefer to rent because there is more sowing," she says. This is her routine, and she likes it, and so she will continue with her work for a long time. Now she plans to begin a new planting of peas and potatoes, since the rains are near and she wants to take advantage of them.

This is her 7th loan with MFP. She promises that she will make her payments on time. She belongs to the communal bank, "The Pioneers of Cumutay," where she participates actively with their savings program and meetings.

Luz will use this money to purchase three bags of seeds for peas (2000 PEN), and the rest will be used to acquire seed potatoes and fertilizers.
