A loan of $400 helped to buy pea seeds and fertilizers.

Nestor's story

Néstor is 38 years old. His wife is Valvina, who is 33 and with whom he has three children. They live in the house that Néstor built with great effort and dedication. Twenty years ago, with the support of his wife, he bought his farm land, where he now grows potatoes, peas, corn, and other products. In all his years as a farmer, he learned strategies to increase his production on the same area of land, using techniques of irrigation, fertilization, and others. "The problem is when the frosts spoil the plants, so for that reason I know what products to grow in those months," he says. In the future, he is thinking of acquiring more land and thus increasing his production. Now he will plant peas. This is his 9th loan from MFP, and he is very pleased to get it, since he needs it urgently to improve his production. In his communal bank, "The Pioneers of Cumutay," he is a very punctual member at the meetings. He will invest the 1000 PEN in the purchase of a bag of seeds for peas (500 PEN) and 4 bags of fertilizer (120 PEN each).
