A loan of $775 helped to pay for the services of the staff that she will hire for the clean-up of her land and for the purchase of agricultural tools.

Flora's story

Flora is 42 years old. Her partner is Victor, with whom she has five children, but now they only live with four of them. She owns her house and it is located in a native community of the central jungle. She has been working in agriculture since she was 18 years old. Now, Flora and her partner produce bananas, coffee, oranges and achiote on two plots of land that were given to them by the community. One of the most often sacrificed tasks within their work is the cleaning and maintenance of their crops, which is why they resort to hiring operating staff to expedite these tasks. Flora obtains satisfactory profits when she sells her crops, especially the coffee and achiote. Her plans are clear: She is anxious to produce more as well as have more land, and she will work for this until she gets the money necessary. This is her fifth loan with MFP, and this speaks to the fact that she will make the loan payments responsibly. Furthermore, she belongs to the communal bank “Unión Orito” where she is an active partner and participates in the educational chats. Flora will dedicate 1500 soles to the payment of the services of the staff that she will hire for the clean-up of her land. With the rest she will buy agricultural tools.
