A loan of $825 helped to buy soft drinks, beer, and packaged food.

Roxana's story

Roxana lives in the Metropolitana area, very close to one of the most important settings in Colombia, the Estadio Metropolitano de Barranquilla, the cradle of Colombian soccer. This increases the market for her refreshment business, where she sells beer, soft drinks, and packaged food.

She began in business at a young age because her mother encouraged her with her good example of enterprise. She sells daily from 9 in the morning until 9 at night, from Monday through Sunday. She makes her sales weekly in the center of the city and in cash. Roxana has received one loan from Fundación Mario Santo Domingo, which has allowed her to buy wholesale and to rotate her merchandise more quickly because her customers come back when they see the inventory ordered and find what they are looking for.

Currently she has plans to continue her growth, and she is requesting her first Kiva loan to buy soft drinks and beer by the case, to have a stock of well-refrigerated products to attract customers. She also will buy packaged food, products that are very pleasing to children and young people, and that also have an important turnover.

Her long-term goal is to expand her infrastructure and to have her own house. Her biggest challenge, however, is the lack of cash to invest. This is where the success of her Kiva loan is derived.
