A loan of $1,500 helped to buy forage for her cows.

Nicolasa's story

Nicolasa is fifty-one and has two children. Her daughter managed to graduate as a lawyer and is now doing an internship. Her son is at school and her husband is working in Spain. He had to emigrate to bring them all a better quality of life. Thanks to the money he sends home, they were able to build a new house. The family lives in the neighbourhood of Maica in the town of Cochabamba; Nicolasa's main activity is the production of raw milk. She sells it to her mother, who makes cheese. The loan is to buy forage in order to have enough in stock to face the dry season. That would enable her to continue feeding her cows the same quantities of forage, so that they, in turn, produce the same quantity of milk. One of her dreams and goals is to see her business continue growing until it boasts at least thirty cows. But perhaps Nicolasa's dearest dream of all is to see her husband return home so that they can be together.
