A loan of $650 helped a member to buy fertilizers for her farmland.

Sochea's Group's story

Sochea is single and lives in a rural village of the Ek Phnom district, where crop farming is a common way to earn a living. She is a rice farmer in the village and she supplements her income by growing maize and cabbage. She has been in this business for ten years, and earns about 29,400 KHR per day from her current business, and she is able to save about 17,000 KHR each day. The main challenge for her business is flooding, which has affected her rice paddy.

This is the sixth loan for Sochea's group with VisionFund; both members completely repaid their previous loans, which Sochea used successfully to relieve her family's financial burden. To better support her current business, she is leading her group of two to apply for another loan with VisionFund. She will use her portion to buy fertilizers for her farmland as well as paying fees for labor and water pumping. She hopes this loan will enable her to make a better living and increase her family's income.
