A loan of $1,300 helped a member to spend on farmland preparation, to buy piglets and feed.

Vany's Group's story

Aged 53, Vany has six children living in a rural village of the Moung Russey district, Battambang province.

To support the family, Vany does rice farming while her husband is a beehive hunter. Apart from the two mentioned businesses, they also raise pigs for sale to make more income. From these businesses, they are able to earn about 30,000 KHR per day. Her farming business struggles when there is a natural disaster like drought or flood.

Vany is new to VisionFund while her other three group members have been with this Kiva partner for many loan cycles. Because of her good characteristics, Vany was appointed to be a group leader. Vany will use her portion to spend on farmland preparation, to buy more piglets and pig feed.

Vany hopes this loan will help her to grow more rice with good yield and that the pigs will grow healthily so that she can sell them for a higher price and in turn allow her to help the children with their school fees.
