A loan of $3,750 helped a member to purchase smoked fish and vegetables to sell in her village.

Assy's Group's story

"Banc Villageois de And Liggey Yermandé" has been in existence since December 27, 2010. The group PC is composed of 21 women living in the same village who are hard-working and united in solidarity.

Ms. Yandé, the group's official, is 42 years old, married, and the mother of seven children; she is active in selling smoked fish and vegetables. She capitalizes on good experience in this domain. In the photo, she is at the right dressed in a beige 'wax' cloth outfit with green flowers and wearing a black shawl over her head, and her left hand is raised.

She always purchases vegetables (carrots, turnips, cabbage, …) and smoked fish at the weekly markets and resells them in her village.

Her loan will be used to increase the amount of smoked fish and of vegetables to sell, so as to maximize her profits.

She helps her husband to support the family and cover day-to-day expenses; she also plans to save money in order to have financial autonomy.

In this group: Assy, Yande, Fatou, Astou, Ndeye, Diabou, Mbayang, Khady, Awa, Khary, Codou, Aïda, Ndeye Adama, Mbathio, Awa, Fama, Awa, Ndeye Sokhna, Awa, Khar, Coumba
