A loan of $750 helped a member to buy rice seeds for her agriculture business and to buy construction materials.

Moey's Group's story

Aged 51 years old, Moey is a married mother of nine children living in a rural village of the Moung Russey district of Battambang. To strive for this big household, she has been planting paddy rice, and her husband works as a construction worker in the local area. They have been in this business for 20 years, earning about 20,000 Cambodian riels (KHR) per day.

Moey’s group consists of three members who are all females living in the same village. She is on her fifth loan cycle, while her two fellow group members are first loan cycle clients with Kiva’s partner, VisionFund. She has completely repaid the past loans, which have enabled her to expand her business.

Now leading her group to apply for a loan, Moey will use her portion to buy rice seeds for her paddy field and to buy construction materials in order to support her husband’s business. She hopes to earn more income so as to improve the living conditions for her family.
