A loan of $1,500 helped to buy paints.

María Catalina's story

María is a member of the communal bank, Las Flores, and has been an active member for the past three years. She lives in the Totoracocha sector of the city of Cuenca, whose culture and traditions are very deeply entrenched in the daily life of its people. The typical cuisine of the region captivates the palates of natives and visitors.

María is a very hardworking woman. She is forty years old, married, and has a seven-year old daughter with her husband. Her daughter goes to a little school in the neighborhood. Her husband works in an auto body shop. They don't have a home of their own and so live in a rented one.

She is an enterprising woman and has started a paint sales store with her sister. They have had the business for five years now and they work Monday to Saturday from 8:00 in the morning until 7:00 at night.

She will use the loan to buy paints to grow her business further.

Her dream is to have her own home.
