A loan of $650 helped to buy merchandise.

Ledy's story

Ledys, 62, is waiting for the second season in the year when sales are best. Her 32 years’ experience as a merchant have taught her how to work each season and this is the one she puts her greatest effort and all working capital into in order to attain higher income that will generate family wellbeing.

Among the products she sells the most are footwear, cosmetics and women’s costume jewelry. Large part of what she sells she does so on credit among customers she’s won over during her career as a merchant. She’s been associated with Fundación Mario Santo Domingo for more than 20 years and she’s gotten 20 loans that have made it possible for her to grow in all aspects: personal, family and business.

Her goal is to continue expanding her working capital and this is the season to do so which is why she’s come by to request a Kiva loan to buy clothes, footwear, perfumery, costume jewelry, small home appliances based on prior orders and also to have on-hand before end-of-year prices rise. With her Kiva loan she will be able to qualify for advance purchase pricing and will have merchandise for a good price because she’s anticipated their rise in price and will be able to keep her customers to whom she owes her business satisfied.
