A loan of $575 helped to buy chickens to sell.

Maria Del Pilar's story

María del Pilar, 48, has two children and lives in the house she inherited from her mother ten years ago. Years ago she worked in agriculture but then got a new business idea and rented a centrally-located stand in the city’s market where she now sells chicken. She does her work with help from her sister who helps her take care of customers. “I do very well. I start selling very early and by noon have sold all the chickens I bring. During festivals I sell much more,” she comments. Now, she wants to increase capital in order to earn higher profits.

She belongs to the “Los Emprendedores” (The Enterprising Ones) communal bank and this is her third MFP loan. She is grateful for the support that will help her reach her objectives. On the other hand, she promises to make her payments. She enjoys being part of her communal bank because she’s known them for many years. María del Pilar will use the requested money to buy several chickens to resell.
