Modestina, age 37, is the single mother of two minor, dependent children. She lives and works in a rural community, Segundo Toncoli, which is 52 kilometers from the city of Cochabamba.

She has farmed since she was 15 years old, and it is her source of income. She produces potatoes and beans on three hectares of land that she inherited from her parents.

Modestina needs capital to buy farming supplies (organic fertilizer and potato seeds) in order to enlarge her crops and increase production during the next agricultural season.

Modestina tells us that she will now plant in a bigger area, guaranteeing food security for her family. She will improve her income in order to save money to build her own house. She currently lives in her parents’ house.
